This walks around the Jeep in a time-saving order. Each page has about 5 things. Use inches for measurements.
Pick the Jeep you are measuring. Stock references and tire defaults update from this.
Stock note: many XJs came with sizes around 215/75R15, 225/75R15, or 235/75R15 depending on trim/package. Current tire estimate updates after you type/select.
Optional. If blank, the app estimates diameter from the selected/typed tire size. Many “31s” measure closer to 30.5 inches mounted.
Driver front corner
Start at the driver front wheel. Measure straight up/down where possible.
Stock hub-to-flare reference: about 17.5 in. Tire-size logic adjusts on the Results screen.
Small gap means easier tire contact. Compare side-to-side.
Passenger front corner
Same checks on the passenger front, then compare side-to-side on the results screen.
Front axle and steering
Stay at the front. These checks catch most XJ wander/death-wobble causes.
If these differ a lot, front axle may be shifted by track bar geometry/wear.
Driver rear corner
Move to the driver rear wheel. Rear leaf/shackle checks are especially useful on XJs.
Stock hub-to-flare reference: about 17.0–17.5 in. Tire-size logic adjusts on the Results screen.
Passenger rear corner
Same checks on the passenger rear.
Rear axle and underside
Do these while you’re already near the rear/underbody.
Side measurements
Stand beside the Jeep and measure hub center to hub center.
XJ wheelbase reference is about 101.4 in.
Steering turn clearance
Turn the wheel fully left and right. Check tires near bumper caps, lower control arms, inner fenders, and rear of front flares.
Recovery, armor, and trip basics
These are often more useful than a bigger lift for Gambler/light-offroad use.
Final notes
Add anything weird: clunks, lean, tire contact marks, loose bolts, rust, leaks, or parts you already plan to install.
Results and suggestions
These are not a substitute for a mechanic or safe inspection, but they’ll help decide what to check first.
